What To Expect

Peripheral Vascular Disease Minimaly Invasive Interventions

Scheduling Your Procedure

Your physician's nurse practitioner or assistant will work with you to coordinate a mutually agreeable date and time for your procedure. Our staff will contact your insurance company for any necessary authorizations or precertification. Lenox Hill is sensitive to the cultural needs and requirements of different patients. Please let the staff know if you have any special needs (dietary) before your visit so that your needs can be accommodated.

Scheduling Pre-Admission Testing

You will need to have the following tests performed by either your Cardiologist or your primary care provider (PCP) one to two weeks before your scheduled procedure:

  • Laboratory analysis of your blood: complete blood count, prothrombin time, partial thromboplastin time, chemistry panel-20, urine analysis
  • Electrocardiogram
  • History and physical examination

Our staff will work with you and either your Cardiologist or PCP to coordinate these tests for your procedure. The results of these tests should be faxed to your surgeon's office as soon as possible.

Scheduling Arrival Time (Confirmation Call)

On the day before your procedure, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, a nurse will call you to confirm your expected arrival time for your procedure the following day. Patients are expected to arrive sometime between 6:00 AM and noon. A staff member of the Minimally Invasive Catherization Suite will review your health history, your current medications, and give you final instructions regarding when to stop eating food and drinking fluids. You will also be given instructions regarding your medications.
